Dublin welcomes new Lord Mayor
Dublin, 24 February 1915 - A large crowd filled the public galleries at City Hall in Dublin yesterday to see the new Lord Mayor of Dublin invested with the chain of office.
J.M. Gallagher, a native of Co. Leitrim, owns four large tobacco shops on the south side of the city and has pledged himself to work for the poor of the city. He has been a member of Dublin Corporation for eight years.
Mr Gallagher's appointement comes in the wake of the death of Alderman John Clancy who was elected last month, but died before taking office.
