Emigration continues to rise
The latest statistics show that the rate of emigration from Ireland has continued to rise throughout 1913. In the first seven months of this year a total of 20,590 people left Ireland, an increase of 2,331 from the same period last year. Ulster leads the way with 8,681 people departing, followed by Munster (4,892), Connacht (4,610) and Leinster (2,397). Ulster also saw the largest rise in the number of emigrants compared to a year ago.
