Rail companies give pay increase to staff

Dundalk, 18 February 1915 - Irish railway companies have increased the pay for their employees due to the increased cost of living brought by the war.

A circular from the Great Northern Railway Company said that the company recognised that the wartime burden was one that must be borne by all, but acknowledged that the pinch was felt more keenly by the lower paid grades. For this reason, the company has decided, until further notice, to make special allowance to every permanent adult member of staff whose salary was lower than 40s per week.
