Businessman fined for exceeding 30 miles per hour
Dublin, 13 November 1914 - At Kingstown Police Court yesterday, a Dublin businessman was fined 40 shillings for driving more than 30 miles per hour.
Martin Fitzgerald from Dundrum denied the charge as ‘an absurd one’ and claimed that he had at no point exceeded 20 miles per hour. Nevertheless, he was convicted of driving ‘at a speed dangerous to the public’.
