Dreams of a white Christmas dashed in 1914

Dublin, 26 December 1914 - Dreams of a white Christmas in Ireland were realised in many parts of the country - but only because of a heavy frost.

However, dreams of a day spent snowballing, sliding and building snowmen, went unrealised. Instead, a bright, mild day of fine weather was enjoyed all across the country.
