Two cures reported at St Winefride’s Holywell
Two cures are reported to have taken place at St. Winefride’s Holywell in Wales in connection with the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul.
One case is that of a six year old girl who was suffering from an infection in the eyes. She was taken to Holywell on Saturday by her mother and it is claimed she was cured after bathing in the well.
In another case Nellie Nugent, a crippled girl of 13, recovered the use of her limbs after bathing. The girl, who is an orphan and a native of Liverpool was injured in a fall when she was two years old. She had been bed-ridden until she was eight years of age. For the past five years she has walked with great difficulty and only when supported by an iron frame - running from her waist to her heel.
After emerging from the well, however, she said, ‘I think I can walk’, and on making an attempt found she could. Discarding her iron frame, she walked around the bath and up the hill to St Winefride’s Hospice.
