Thomas Jordan Sent to Prison for Shebeening

The court heard today that when police searched Jordan’s house in Brackloon, they were surprised at first not to find evidence of shebeening, as the defendant had been imprisoned for the same offence in 1909. Eventually they found a small tap, protruding from a gun barrel, under Jordan’s bed. The gun barrel then flowed through a wall, to a half barrel of porter embedded in the kitchen gable. The evidence suggested that Jordan had been running his shebeen for years.
