Lord Carbery crashes during 500 mile air race

Lord Carbery suffered a crash while flying over the English channel last week. His machine was destroyed in the incident, but fortunately, he was uninjured. He was picked up by a passing steamship before being transferred to the battleship St Vincent. He had been taking part in a 500 mile air race from London to Paris and back. The Irish aviator's accident was the only mishap of the event.

The race was won by American airman, W.L. Brock, in a time of 3 hours and 33 minutes. The other competitors were Renoux Carr and Roland Garros.

Had he not crashed, Lord Carbery, looked set to achieve a time of 3 hours and 52 minutes, which would have put him in second place.

Lord Carbery will now proceed to Waterford where he will give a flying exhibition at an Agriculture show.
