Irish education costs announced
Addressing the House of Commons today, Mr Birrell has unveiled how much funding the Irish education system received for the 1912-13 year. Elementary education received the largest amount, totalling £1,767,676. Secondary education received £74,280 while the universities were in receipt of government funding totalling £129,765. The bulk of the money came from the Public Vote for Education, and in total shows a small increase on the funding that was available in the previous year. No figures were available from Mr Birrell about how much funding for schools was secured at the local level or from the religious institutions.
