Ireland defeat France in Paris

Published: 1 January 1914

For the sixth time in succession Ireland has defeated France in a rugby international.

30,000 people filled the Parc des Princes in Paris to watch the match. The weather was fine and it made for a quick game. The French team started strongly and by half-time, France led by three points to nil thanks to a Lacoste try.

The second half started similarly and France soon led by six points to nil after a try by Andre. However, Ireland stepped up their game soon after. They scored two converted tries in quick sucession and led eight points to six going into the final few minutes.

The Irish held on to the narrow lead and extended their unbeaten run over the French side.
