Date fixed for Titanic claims hearing
The date was fixed today for a hearing against the owners of the Titanic. The case, which will be hard in the King’s Bench Division, London, pits four Irishmen against the Oceanic Steam Navigation Company.
The claimants are all relatives of various passengers who perished when the ship sank, and their claim is based on the negligence of the company in navigating the ship. The hearing was fixed for 20 June, when the defence will be able to call witnesses, some of whom work on the Titanic’s sister ship, the Olympic, and are not due back in London until that date.
