Carson speaks of Ulster resistance
In continuation of his Ulster resistance campaign, Sir Edward Carson spoke today in Manchester stating how no settlement of the Irish question should humiliate or degrade Ulster. He further explained that it also should not be treated any differently than any other part of the United Kingdom.
Carson made an impassioned speech about how the Irish Unionists were ashamed of nothing they had done or were doing and were afraid of nothing. He explained they were not conspirators plotting against the King or the Constitution and were doing nothing in the dark but would continue to fight for their cause.
There was also a speech made by Irish Unionist MP John Campbell criticising the intention of the Government to proclaim the importation of arms into Ireland and to introduce home rule for the island in its entirety.
The meeting was presided over by the Earl of Derby.
