Boys prosecuted for throwing stones at trains
Three young boys have appeared before the Police Court charged with throwing stones at a train passing between Cross Guns Bridge and Binns Bridge, on the North Wall Junction of the railway. A representative of the railway company reported that such incidents were becoming ever more regular and dangerous.
Mr Byrne, prosecuting, asked the Court that each boy be given six strokes of the birch rod, as allowed for under the Summary Jurisdiction of Childrens’ Act (1884). Mr Hunt, presiding, said he would reflect on a suitable punishment.
