Armed robbery in Kerry

Published: 2 June 1913

This morning Mr Chambers, the manager of the Listowel branch of the Provincial Bank, was held up by five masked men on the road between Duagh and Abbeyfeale. It is reported that the armed raiders had cut down trees to block the road, thereby halting Mr Chambers on his journey. Once they had halted him, they cut his horse loose from its sidecar, threatened Mr Chambers with a revolver and relieved him of his cash box. Three men were arrested later in the day and charged with the offence.
