Highest levels of emigration in Ulster

Published: 6 June 1914

The statistical returns of emigration for Ireland in 1913 show that the province with the highest rate of emigration is the province represented to be the most prosperous - Ulster. The number who left Ulster is six times higher than the number of those who left the poorest province of Connaught. The returns also show that the majority who left Ulster were predominantly non-Catholic.

The returns also show that the only two counties on the island with an increasing population over the last year were Dublin and Kildare.
