Wireless to be used in attempt to reduce train crashes

A spate of recent train crashes has led an American rail company to use the latest wireless technology in an attempt to improve safety on its lines.

The company - Lackawanna Ltd. - has invented a system where a despatcher sits in front of a board on the train and the position of each train on the line is shown by wireless telegraph. If the trains are seen to come too close together for safety, the despatcher can send a message to stop one of them, thus averting the prospect of a collision.
