Last tango in New York?
Cardinal launches crusade against immoral dance
Cardinal Farley, the leader of the Catholic Church in New York, has launched a crusade against the Tango.
The Cardinal has also criticised other dances such as the Turkey Trot and the Bunny Hug, saying that they are conducive neither to public decorum nor private morality.
Cardinal Farley’s criticisms have led to the abandonment of several scheduled dances organised by Catholic guilds in the city and it is hoped to extend the campaign across America.
It is unclear yet if the campaign will extend to Tango dancing in Ireland.
