Sylvia Pankhurst arrested in London
London, 4 January 1914 - Miss Sylvia Pankhurst was arrested this evening while walking along Grove Road in London. Miss Pankhurst, whose license under the Cat and Mouse Act expired on 22 December, was due to address a Suffragette meeting in Covent Garden in the coming days.
As Miss Pankhurst walked down Grove Road she was seized by two detectives and bundled into a covered van, which had been commandeered in the absence of a cab.
She was transported to Hackney Wick Police Station from where she was later moved to Holloway Jail.
