Moran retains Irish Professional Golf Championship
Michael Moran retained the Irish Professional Golf Championship, shooting a final round of 75 to give him a two-shot victory over the Foxrock Golf Club professional, Pat O’Hare, at Portmarnock yesterday.
Moran, a member of the Royal Dublin Golf Club, won £10 for his victory and was also presented with a cup and a gold medal. It was Moran’s fifth success in a row in the competition, which was first held in 1907.
O’Hare had looked certain to win the championship until the last nine holes, but Moran’s greater experience saw him home in front of a large crowd on a course that was bathed in sunshine.
