Mayo family feud
At Ballinrobe Petty Sessions, Mrs. Hogan Jnr gave evidence of systematic abuse from her mother-in-law who refused to speak to her following marriage to her eldest son.
At one point the mother-in-law attempted to shove her 10-month old grandchild into the fire, while she also attacked her son with a shovel. In evidence, Mrs. Hogan Snr acknowledged that she did not approve of the marriage but said that relations with her son deteriorated after they moved house and her son refused to help her take a rose bush that had been planted after her daughter had died 15 years previously.
Mrs. Hogan was bound to the peace for twelve months.
