Low pay of Irish schoolteachers condemned
Derry, 16 April 1914 - Irish national school teachers are poorly paid in comparison to their counterparts in other countries, the annual congress of the Irish National Teachers’ Organisation was told today in the Guild Hall in Derry.
Salaries in Scotland are much in advance of those in Ireland and the same is true for England. The congress also heard that the Education Board in Ireland was entirely out of touch with national sentiment and that it was in no way representative of Irish public interests.
