Irish rugby player dies after match
The Irish international rugby footballer Charles MacIvor has died from injuries sustained in a rugby match.
An inquest into death of Mr MacIvor, who was an engineering student at Trinity College, heard that he had been playing a match in College Park and sustained a blow to the head while defending against an opposition attack.
He left the field ten minutes later, changed into his clothes and took a tram home. He took ill at his digs on Upper Pembroke Street and was brought to the Rotunda Hospital, where he died the following day.
