Irish and English soccer clubs agree deal on transfer of players

A meeting in London between representatives of the Irish Football League and the English Football League has resulted in an agreement over new rules to govern the transfer of players between clubs in both countries. Under the new agreement, clubs in each league will compile a list of players who have been re-engaged and of other players ‘to whom they have offered reasonable terms of re-engagement’. These lists will then be circulated to every club in both leagues.

All clubs have undertaken not to directly or indirectly induce players from any of these lists to switch allegiances. It has also been agreed that players suspended in one league cannot travel and play in the other.
