Ireland to join German side in War

Claims have been made in New York that the support of the Irish will help Germany win the war.

‘Germany will be triumphant. We have with us the Irish, who have always been against the barbarians of Russia and England, and I soon hope to see a new Triple Alliance composed of Ireland, Germany and Austria, that will sweep England from the sea.'

These statements were made by a Herr Koelble at a mass meeting of more than 3,000 Germans in New York at which a committee was formed for the distribution of pro-German news to the American press.
