Arms and ammunition bound for the Irish National Volunteers were landed on the Wicklow Coast on Monday night.

Around 4,000 rifles and a quantity of ammunition were brought on shore between Newcastle and Killoughter in a process managed by the local corps of Volunteers.

Some of the guns were distributed locally, while others were taken away in motor cars.
