Girl shot with toy pistol in Belfast

Belfast, 2 May 1913 - A 15-year-old boy from Belfast was remanded on bail in the Children’s Court, yesterday, after being charged with shooting a friend of his with a toy pistol.

Herbert Lilly was charged with having wounded Minnie Kennedy (16), having been arrested at 3am by an RIC sergeant. When arrested, the boy said: ‘I don’t know how it happened.’

A search found the toy pistol in the boy’s waistcoat, and a mask in his coat pocket. Minnie Kennedy was last night being treated for her injuries at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
