Gavrilo Princip sentenced to twenty years in prison for murder of Franz Ferdinand

Published: 29 October 1914

Judgment was passed today on the assassin of Franz Ferdinand and on his co-conspirators in the crime. Gavrilo Princip was sentenced to twenty years imprisonment, while four of his co-conspirators were sentenced to death by hanging.

Because Mr. Princip was not yet 20, he escaped the death penalty.
