Further stalemate in Gallipoli despite drama at Hill 60

Gallipoli, 22 October 1915 - Relentless artillery fire, persistent sniping and occasional futile assaults mark another week of conflict in Gallipoli. Both sides are now entrenched in stalemate, with neither able to dislodge the other from their respective positions despite fierce hill fighting.

The most dramatic incident in recent days was at Hill 60 where the Turks accidentally exploded a mine behind their own line, resulting in huge damage to Turkish trenches and considerable loss of life.
