First wounded British soldiers evacuated
The first injured troops have been brought from the front and have arrived at the French port of Rouen. The trainload of wounded men included one whose head was entirely bound up in bandages. He said: ‘It gives me a bit of a headache now and then and I don’t seem to be able to use my right arm.’
The men had all been involved in the battle at Mons and some were very seriously injured.
