Dublin police to go on strike

Rumours are sweeping Dublin that the Dublin Metropolitan Police are to go on strike following the dismissal of two of their colleagues.

Constables Michael Gleeson and Andrew O’Neill were dismissed from the force for ‘insubordination’ after they refused to disarm Irish Volunteers in the city. It is understood that members of the Royal Irish Constabulary will refuse to come to Dublin to take their places and that the British Army is being prepared to assume normal policing duties.
