Dublin Housing schemes stall due to lack of investment
Dublin, 21 October 1916 - Seven housing schemes planned for Dublin have been stalled due to the inability of Dublin Corporation to provide adequate funding.
In an attempt to resolve the problem, the Corporation is in negotiations for a loan of up to £2 million with the National Bank of New York.
The effort to secure the money comes in the wake of ongoing focus on improving the condition of housing in Dublin which is considered to be grossly below the standard required.
New housing committee formed
The Dublin Chamber of Commerce has appointed a Housing Reform
Committee to assist in the provision of proper accommodation for
the working classes of the city.
The establishment of this committee has been broadly welcomed, although it remains unclear how it will operate in partnership with existing bodies.
