Boy kicked to death by horse

A four-year-old boy, Thomas Whelan, of Lower Gloucester Street in Dublin has died in Jervis Street Hospital from injuries sustained when he was kicked by a horse. The boy was out playing on the road in front of his house when he ran out in front of a horse-and-car. Having been kicked by the horse, the boy was then driven over by the wheel of the car. Witnesses say that the horse-and-car were travelling on the right side of the road and at normal speed. The driver has been exonerated of all blame.
