Mr Henry O’Donnell is suing the Bishop of Cloyne, Dr Browne, for personal injuries alleged to have been sustained by the negligence of the chauffeur of the bishop’s motor car when it struck Mr. O’Donnell’s vehicle. The bishop told Cork No. 1 Court this week that he was sitting in the back of his new De Dion landaulette car, travelling on the road from Queenstown to Fermoy, when the collision occured.

Mr. O’Donnell is an inspector of the Veterinary Branch of the Department of Agriculture. Both sides gave differing testimonies, before the jury found the bishop’s chauffeur guilty of negligence and deemed that this negligence was the cause of the accident. Damages of £130 were awarded to the plaintiff.
